In this short tutorial we will walk you through some Hurley Maintenance the process of How To Fix Hurleys in less than 5 mins. This process is great for fixing minor crack around the nose and can also be used around the face of the Bas. All the tools for this Hurley fixing tutorial are readily available and can be sourced from any local hardware store or better still you may already have them in your home. Just follow the step by step guide below and you will be back in the game
The first step is to gather the items needed for the repair. Some of these items you may already have but if not a quick visit to your local hardware store we get you everything you need for this simple Hurley repair.
So what do you need? We’ll not much.
Super glue, sand paper ( 80 – 120 grit ), masking tape and a small block of wood and that’s it.
Next squeeze your superglue into the crack on the stick. Always remember you read the instructions on any glue products you use and follow they’re safety instructions. Gloves are also a great idea. Get as much of the glue into the crack on the Hurley as possible allowing it to soak in for a few seconds
The crack will then need to be held together to allow the glue time to set. This is where the tape comes in. Use the masking tape to hold the repair in place for about 1 minute. After giving the glue sufficient time to set you can then remove the tape
Take your block of wood and your sand paper. The type of sand paper is not that important but try to keep it between 80 – 100 grit. If all you have is 120 grit then you can use this also. Wrap the sand paper around the block of wood to give yourself a a flat smooth surface to work with against your hurley.
Using your block of wood and sand paper rub down the area of the repair to smooth off any rough edges. As an extra precaution you can add more glue around the area of the crack followed by more rubbing with your sand paper while the glue is still wet. What this does is fill the remaining area of the crack with fine dust while the glue is setting. This will give you a nicely fished hurley repair.
And with that you should finish up with a nice smooth hurley repair. This type of repair can be used to fix all types of small cracks around the nose or the Bas. Just soak in your super glue, apply some pressure and rub off with sand paper
